Oliver specialises in corporate and commercial law with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance transactions. He acts for clients in a broad range of industries including agriculture, leisure, real estate, financial services, industrial products, automotive, forestry and telecommunications sectors.
Oliver’s expertise includes: Company and business acquisitions and disposals; venture capital and private equity transactions; agency and distribution agreements; start up ventures and corporate fundraising; insolvency and corporate recovery; inward investment in NZ and investor migration to NZ; trust and estate planning; forestry investment and carbon trading; and English and European Law.
Originally from the UK, Oliver is often called upon to advise clients with existing UK/European interests or in establishing new business in the UK and Europe. He is dual qualified as both a Solicitor of England and Wales and a Barrister and Solicitor of New Zealand.
Recent Experience includes:
- Currently acting for Craigmore Funds Group which is active in carbon forestry in New Zealand; member of the Advisory Board to Craigmore
- Acquisition for an Irish telecoms operator of a distressed UK business providing telecommunications engineering services
- £13 Million share for share acquisition of phone card retailer (Electronic Distribution Company) with ratchet provisions for management and setting up employee share scheme
- Acquisition of NZ forestry and investment fund structuring including advice on carbon trading and NZ emissions schemes
- Sale of financial software company, CMA Quotevision, to CME Group of Chicago in 2008 (secondment back to UK)
- Advising a US credit specialist on NZ securities laws in respect of their credit default swap advice
- Sale of the Wools of NZ brand and marketing company to Wool Industry Network in 2006
- £55 million disposal of UK asset based lender to Bank of Ireland.
