Geoff Thompson, a leading figure in the National Party, has joined Duncan Cotterill as a consultant in our Wellington office.

Bringing a wealth of experience and expertise, Geoff was previously the Senior Commercial Partner in Kiely Thompson Caisley. He has been a lawyer for over 40 years including a term as Crown Counsel in Hong Kong and an MP and member of the NZ Government Executive.

Geoff is a Past President of the New Zealand National Party and was a long time Chairman of the Rules Committee for the Party.

In recent years, Geoff has particularly focused on business structuring and international business issues with significant involvement in Europe and Asia. A speciality is trusts and establishing effective commercial and tax arrangements including NZ Foreign Trusts. He has recognised experience in business law and corporate governance.

Geoff is a present and past director of many New Zealand and international companies.

In addition, Geoff is immediate past National President of Scouts New Zealand and has interests in farming and forestry.
