Joanna specialises in commercial and civil litigation with particular expertise in leaky building and professional indemnity litigation.
In addition to formal litigation procedures, Joanna has experience in alternative dispute resolution and is regularly involved in mediation, both privately and in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal.
Joanna joined Duncan Cotterill in 2007, having previously worked for six years at a large Auckland firm in its commercial dispute resolution team.
Recent experience includes:
- Conducting recovery and enforcement proceedings for a number of finance companies, including injunction and caveat applications in the High Court
- Acting for a number of architects and engineers in respect of High Court litigation relating to “leaky building” claims, including a 40 unit multimillion dollar claim
- Acting for the vendor of a franchise system in a High Court claim
- Recovery against a former employee for misappropriation of funds
