Mike was a former partner at Minter Ellison and Blake Dawson before joining Duncan Cotterill’s Sydney office in 2009 as Special Counsel.
He has been practising tax law since 1982.
Mike specialises in all aspects of corporate and commercial revenue law advice and litigation. Aitken has extensive experience in handling disputes with revenue authorities and in the conduct of revenue litigation in State and Federal Courts, and in the High Court of Australia.
Before entering private practice, Mike was a lecturer in taxation law at the University of New South Wales. He has continued his academic involvement as an editor of Graham Hill’s Stamp Duty Service from 1985 to 2005, and as the current Australian editor of the United Kingdom publication International Tax Systems and Planning Techniques published by Sweet and Maxwell.
