Duncan Cotterill announces new appointments

Matt Yates is promoted to partner in our Wellington office. Matt is an experienced corporate lawyer and specialises in capital markets, mergers and acquisitions and takeovers. Matt has a broad range of experience advising clients on corporate governance, securities law, NZX listing rules, joint ventures and also intellectual property matters.

Kerryn Tredwell, formerly of Freehills, is appointed to Duncan Cotterill in Sydney as a partner.  She has extensive experience in employment law and industrial relations  gained in practice in Australia, the UK and on secondment with one of Australia’s leading banks. Kerryn represents employers in a range of employment-related litigation in Courts and tribunals and advises across the spectrum of employment law and industrial/workplace relations.

Ben Lenihan joins the Christchurch corporate commercial team as an associate. Ben specialises in the TMT (Technology, Media, Telecommunications) sector, having a strong background in IT and e-Commerce.  He also has a broad range of experience in general commercial acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures.

Julie Maslin-Caradus is promoted to associate in Nelson. Sheis an experienced commercial lawyer who specialises in insurance litigation. Julie previously worked for two leading London firms, one large New Zealand firm and was seconded to a large New Zealand Bank as in-house legal adviser.

Amy Malone rejoins the Auckland office as an associate. She has broad litigation experience and advises on a range of individual, corporate, commercial and insurance litigation matters.  Amy is also experienced at mediation and alternative dispute resolution.

Chief executive Janice Fredric said the five appointments reflected growth within the Duncan Cotterill network to meet market demand. The firm, which has offices in Christchurch, Nelson, Wellington, Auckland and Sydney, now has 38 partners.
