Duncan Cotterill lawyer promoted

Jonathan Forsey, a litigation lawyer with national and trans-Tasman firm Duncan Cotterill, has been promoted to the position of Special Counsel within the firm.

Jonathan specialises in defamation and media law issues, as well as privacy, internet and technology related aspects of the law. In addition, he has considerable experience in contractual and other civil disputes, administrative law and insolvency.

Janice Fredric, chief executive of Duncan Cotterill, said the appointment recognised Forsey’s expertise.

“A Special Counsel has to possess exceptional levels of skill and experience at a very high level. They have to show that they establish and maintain client relationships and they also need to be a leader within the firm.

“Lawyers appointed to this role have to contribute above and beyond simply providing excellent legal advice. Jonathan exemplifies all these qualities.”

The position of Special Counsel is new to Duncan Cotterill in New Zealand although already used in Australia. Christchurch-based Forsey joins Mike Aitken in Duncan Cotterill’s Sydney office, who is also Special Counsel.

Duncan Cotterill has offices in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Sydney and Nelson.
