Duncan Cotterill makes senior appointments

Duncan Cotterill has promoted seven of its senior solicitors to associate status, recognising their specialist sector knowledge.

  • Three are based in Christchurch.


Sarah Townsend is an integral part of the employment team, representing clients in Mediation and the Employment Relations Authority. She advises on a wide range of issues including restructuring and redundancy, disciplinary matters, employment agreements and policies, senior executive terminations and superannuation matters.

Christina Lefever specialises in commercial law and acts for a wide range of commercial and corporate clients with a focus on business acquisitions and disposals, company formation, company structuring and governance, commercial contracts, franchising and commercial property transactions.  

Ross Keenan is also in the commercial team. Most recently he has been involved in one of the largest farm sales in the South Island, for more than $30 million and the purchase of commercial property in Christchurch priced at $10 million plus.

  • Two are in the Auckland office.

Joanna Stafford focuses on commercial and civil litigation with particular expertise in leaky building and professional indemnity litigation. In addition to formal litigation procedures, Joanna has experience in alternative dispute resolution and is regularly involved in mediation, both privately and in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal.

Veronica Culpan is part of Duncan Cotterill’s commercial team, advising on cross-border transactions, sales and acquisitions, bespoke corporate structuring, joint ventures, commercial contracts, service agreements, commercial property and leasing arrangements.

  • Nelson also has two new associates.

Shoshona Goodall is an environmental law specialist. Her experience spans advising individuals and companies as well as public bodies such as the Public Health Service.  She has most recently been involved with several large scale developments by iwi property companies.

Philip Bellamy is part of the Nelson litigation team and has wide and varied experience in this field, having practised in both Dunedin and Nelson for many years.
